This is a simple comparison between composite decking vs Pressure Treated Wood Decking

Many homeowners opt for pressure treated wood decking boards when they are making plans for a new deck for their home. However, there are many options for creating a beautiful deck for your home, including composite decking, which is quickly coming to the forefront as an increasing popular choice among homeowners and builders alike.

Pressure Treated Wood Decking

Many of customers choose pressure treated decking purely for its natural beauty and that is what they grew up with. It isn’t until they actually have it installed that they realize how much work it is to maintain pressure treated wood decking. Depending on the size of the boards you choose, there is a higher risk of cupping for wide boards and of course splintering. Wood is very sensitive to moisture absorption, splinters, and wood rot. Because of this, pressure treated decking requires a thorough and sealing or staining every year or so.

With the usual wear over time, particularly in places where there has been heavy foot traffic, regular staining and care can be more important. Staining is hard to get consistent in color and weathers at different rates so hence almost requires more maintenance to keep you wood deck looking nice. If it is a thick stain, it can also make the deck quite slippery as it is filling the grain of the deck with stain reducing its slip resistance.  One nice thing about wood decks is that you can change the color of your deck one day if you decide to have with a different look.
